I was in college and working my business of security cctv system install and maintaining for clients that I have. Every time I would download video for a client I noticed some serious flaws in the collection of evidence for Mom & Pop businesses. That was the point that the PalidinCOE was invented. We are now at the point of making several proto-types for seminars and presentations and pre-sales. I have an AS Degree in Computer Information Technology and Technical certificates in Digital Forensics and Information Technical Analysis.
We are building the prototype and will have this one built by December 2020.
With the rapid proliferation of surveillance cameras in public and private spaces, law enforcement agencies are increasingly making use of these recordings as evidentiary video at trial. Moreover, mobile digital video recorders and other portable video recording technologies are making it much more practical to capture surveillance/crime scene video that may latter be used as evidence in court. Playback of these video recordings is straightforward, providing the video is played back using the original equipment on which it was recorded. (Prieau, Ed)
This is where this device is needed, there are a lot of people that are not as we would say “technology enhanced”, which means that there currently is no standard across the country that is used for collecting video data. In the current system, some video compiled evidence gets more weight in the courtroom and this is setting a bad precedence. With the growth rate of video
surveillance in the United States there needs to be a set way of gathering video data that stands up in court like any other evidence collected at the scene of the crime. This takes an inexpensive solution to the problem at hand, “The Palidin CoE device.”
The only other way to get this video surveillance to court safely is to create a chain-of-evidence for the medium used to retrieve the data and treat this data like any other evidence collected from the scene of the crime. The device that I propose to make is called “The Palidin CoE” device which allows a police officer, detective, or trained forensics technician to collect the video evidence. The problem is that there are a lot of different manufacturers out there, which causes much confusion in collecting the data from the cctv systems on scene. My device will bridge the gap in between the cctv system and the collecting party by removing the technical aspect of collecting the data and securing the first step in the chain-of-evidence.
